Translated from French, Trompe L'oeil means "fool the eye" and grisaille is a painting technique using subtle gradations of color to create a three-dimensional object. This style of painting has been around for centuries and encompasses elements of light and shadow, perspective and subtle gradations of color to create a three-dimensional illusion.

Master artist, Joshua Winer, will share his years of experience teaching you the elegant, classical technique mastered by the French and Italians. You will complete two projects for this class: The first depicting the illusion of a plaster object, mask or low-relief
ornamental panel. The second project will depict the illusion of an ornamental frame or niche with simple perspective. Along the way you will learn about perspective, light and shadow, color, and corresponding values.
